Fun activities for youth in Catalonia

May 20, 2013/in Korfball News, Year of the Youth /by Celeste Split

In Catalonia we have been focusing on fun activities aimed at younger children, but without forgetting the important element of competition. There are three parts to our plan:

  1. Area competition: four competitions of u18, u16, u14 and u12. The u18 competition will be run with a shot clock, a new development for this age group. The u16 competition will be played as 8 vs 8 on a full field, and we will use it as a test for the competition next season. The u14 and u12 competition will be played with the beach korfbal format 3 vs 3 or 4 vs 4, run as a test for the next season.
  2. KangarooKorfs Area: about ten kangaroo korfs were set up at different heights, with extra games for youngsters.
  3. Area clinics: different coaches taught clinics on shooting, passing etc. during the day.

We also hope to join the global goals initiative and will work hard to spread youth korfball. We look forward to a fantastic day of youth korfball around the world!
