Match report 📰
9/8/2025 – Germany, coming off yesterday’s loss, started aggressively, determined to keep Belgium’s scoring in check. The early minutes were tight, with the score locked at 2-2 after five minutes. Lucas Witthaus (19) was in top form, scoring all three of Germany’s early goals to put them ahead by one with four minutes left in the first quarter. Johanna Gnutt (3) added another to make it 2-4, but Belgium responded through Eline Denie (10) from a free pass and a penalty to pull level. The opening quarter ended evenly at 4-4.
The second quarter began with Germany scoring first, but Belgium quickly equalised at 5-5. Lise Van Maldeghem (6) broke the deadlock with a strong running-in shot, giving Belgium their first lead of the game. From there, the Diamonds found their rhythm, firing in goals to stretch the margin to 10-5. With six minutes left in the half, Germany’s attack faltered, prompting a time-out. It didn’t shift the momentum, as Belgium continued to dominate, closing the half with a commanding 14-6 advantage.
Both teams traded three goals in the first five minutes of the third quarter, but Belgium maintained control, extending their lead to 18-10 by the buzzer.
The final quarter saw no surprises — Belgium kept pushing and gradually widened the gap, sealing a convincing 27-14 victory.
