China missed two free passes, and with both sides going scoreless for a spell, Suriname found two late goals to take an 4-11 lead into halftime.

The third quarter opened with quick exchanges, bringing the score to 5-13. China hit back with two crucial goals to make it 7-13, prompting Suriname’s first timeout.

In the final quarter, Suriname maintained momentum, stretching the lead to 8-15. China again rallied with two more important goals, closing to 10-15 with six minutes left. Despite China’s efforts, Suriname’s sharper play in the closing stages sealed a 12-19 victory.
