10/8/2025 – Chinese Taipei struck fast with two quick goals for a 0-2 lead, but Portugal replied through a penalty to make it 1-2. The opening minutes were played at high intensity, and Chinese Taipei extended the gap to 1-4 with a couple of long-range efforts. Portugal converted another penalty to close in at 2-4 with seven minutes left in the quarter. Both sides traded goals, and Portugal managed to reduce the deficit to just one by the end of the first quarter.
After two scoreless minutes in the second quarter, Chinese Taipei struck first to restore a two-goal lead at 6-8 with seven minutes on the clock. They maintained that margin at 8-10 before Pei-Yun (4) landed a medium shot to stretch the gap to 8-11. Portugal replied with a difficult finish to go into halftime trailing 9-11, keeping the pressure on the visitors.
Chinese Taipei opened the third quarter with a goal, but Portugal responded quickly for 10-12. A free pass brought Portugal within one at 11-12, though Chinese Taipei immediately made it 11-13. Neither side could break the two-goal cushion until Ya-Wen (1) converted from a free pass to create the game’s largest gap so far at 13-17 with three minutes left, prompting Portugal’s first timeout. The quarter closed at 15-18.
Portugal scored first in the final quarter to cut it to 16-18 with eight minutes to play, but Chinese Taipei delivered three crucial goals to take a commanding 16-21 lead with five minutes remaining. Riding their momentum, Chinese Taipei controlled the closing stages and sealed a 18-23 victory.
