IKF U19 & U16 Korfball4 championships day 1 results

Day 1 of the IKF U19 & U16 Korfball4 Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia showed some interesting results. The first round is played in all three pools.

Both in U19 and in U16 age group the youngsters from Chinese Taipei show their abilities with clear wins.

IKF Level III “Youth Coach Camp” join International Week Dordrecht 2015

Some exciting events are underway this week from 16 to 22 August in Dordrecht, the Netherlands. First of all, IKF in liaison with KNKV run the IKF Level III “Youth Coach Camp”. An international group of 22 coaches perform under guidance of current coach of Dutch korfball champion PKC, Mr. Ben Crum. He is appointed as a program manager for this course. Mr. Crum lead a group of prestigious coaches invited to guide the participants in the “Youth coach camp” and learn all about coaching drills at youth level. Amongst this group of tutors, coach of Dutch national team Mr. Wim Scholtmeijer, Mr .Jan Sjouke van den Bos, head of coaches for the KNKV and Mr Detlef Elewaut, coach of Belgium national team, conduct some of the sessions.

During the week several training sessions take place at different Dordrecht clubs featuring local korfballers from 11 to 16 years coming from the clubs: DeetosSnel, Sporting Delta, Movado, Oranje Wit, KC Dordrecht together with some players from KC Barcelona. The training sessions will be useful as a practice for the 22 coaches from 15 different countries representing all five continents. They participate this week in order to obtain the IKF level III diploma for international coaches:

For some years, IKF and KNKV work closely together in order to involve all korfball nations pursuing to raise their level of play.

For that purpose we provide coaches with a complete program for coaching youth teams. This should be planned and executed with accuracy; furthermore the IKF Level III “Youth Coach Camp” is an opportunity to enjoy a unique experience, sharing one week with coaches from all around the world in the excellent environment of one of the greatest korfball cities in the world and hosted by well-known club DeetosSnel. The clubs from Dordrecht opens its doors to an international program for coach education and provide the best facilities to perform during this week.

The 1st IKF Asia U19 & U16 Korfball4 Championships in Indonesia

The first IKF Asia U19 & U16 Korfball4 Championships will take place from 20 – 23 August 2015. The events are played in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Dominican Republic U23 American Korfball Champion

The first IKF U23 Pan American Korfball Champion is the Dominican Republic. They beat in the final in Cali, Colombia the home team of Colombia by 18 – 14 and deserve the gold medal.

The Dominican Republic team qualifies for the IKF U23World Korfball Championship (IKF U23 WKC) in Olomouc, Czech Republic from 9 – 16 July 2016. This will be the first participation from the Dominican Republic in the IKF U23 WKC.

Netherlands wins U19 KWC in 2015

The U19 team from the Netherlnds is the winner of the 2015 jubilee edition of the U19 Korfball World Cup.

In front of more than 1,200 spectators the Dutch youth team beat their eternal rivals from Belgium in an exciting final. Most of the match was very close only in the final minutes of the game Netherlands created a gap. The final whistle of IKF referee, Peter Busik from Slovakia was with 19 – 13.

The bronze medal was for the youngsters from Chinese Taipei. They beat the big surprise of this event Hungary with 16-13.

New Zealand as newcomer in this event achieved the 10th place.

The city of Leeuwarden was three days the center of youth korfball in the 20th edition of this major event.

IKF President, Mr Jan Fransoo handed the cup to the winners.

U19 Korfball World Cup start

Thursday 2 April 2015 Mr Andries EKHART, elderman of the city of Leeuwarden (NED), welcomed the teams from all over the world. He had warm words for all teams that came to the province Friesland and the city Leeuwarden. His opening was part of a spectacular opening ceremony in front of many hundreds of spectators in Sportcentre Kalverdijkje. Atletic groups, a Korfball4 match, 1-to-1 korfball matches were part.

The U19 KWC in 2015 is the 20th edition of this major youth korfball event. The organisers: KNKV, KNKV district North and the Dutch clubs K.V. Leeuwarden and Mid Fryslan may be proud. The IKF hopes this event will continue for many years.

Friday 3, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 April Leeuwarden will be the place to be for youth korfball. Sunday 5 April the finals will conclude this event.

Jos van Meersbergen knighted

21 March 2015 Mr Jos VAN MEERSBERGEN (NED) was taken by surprise. The mayor of the city of Schijndel, Mrs.Jetty EUGSTER, showed up in the Dioscuren Sportsvenue and after a speech handed Jos a royal order awarded by the king of the Netherlands.

Jos was given this order for his long lasting work for korfball both national and international; for his club Boemerang and for the U17 Korfball World Cup. His determination and ongoing commitment to the U17 KWC developed this annual youth event as the most important U16 and now U17 korfball event in the world.

The IKF Council gratulates Jos VAN MEERSBERGEN with this well deserved distinction and hopes he will continue many more years in good health with the U17 KWC.

U19 Korfball World Cup starts soon

Thursday 2 April 2015, 1930 PM (Amsterdam time zone) is the opening ceremony of the 20th U19 Korfball World Cup in Sportcentre ‘t Kalverdijkje in Leeuwarden, Netherlands.

Friday 3 April 0930 AM (Amsterdam time zone) the first matches in this jubilee version of the U19 KWC start.

The U19 KWC is organised by KNKV and patronised by the IKF.

U17 KWC winner 2015

The U17 Korfball World Cup 2015 had a magnificent final. The Netherlands and Belgium played high level youth korfball with dedication and commitment. The Netherlands was most of time in the lead but the Belgium youth team was nearby all the time.

Sportsvenue Dioscuren was crowded and the many hundreds of spectators reacted very positive.

After 2 * 25 minutes real playing time The Netherlands squad and coach Barry Schep, the former Dutch international, were 18 – 16 in the lead over Belgium and winner of the U17 Korfball World Cup 2015.
