Slovakia edge Serbia 19-17 in tightly contested Group C clash

Prostějov, 17 October 2026 – Slovakia secured a hard-fought 19-17 victory over Serbia in Group C at the IKF European Korfball Championship 2026, claiming their first points of the tournament in a match that remained undecided until the final moments.

The game was closely fought throughout, with both sides trading the lead on several occasions. Ema Ondrejcova led the way for Slovakia with six goals, while Zuzana Bušíková added five. Serbia stayed competitive through the efforts of Nemanja Stojevic (four goals) and a trio of players on three each.

After a series of late equalisers, Slovakia took control in the closing stages. Patrik Kocur’s penalty put them 17-16 ahead, and although Serbia levelled through a running-in shot from Stojevic, Bušíková struck twice in quick succession to seal the win with the final two goals of the match.

The result lifts Slovakia to three points in Group C, level with Türkiye, while Germany remain top with six points. Serbia are still seeking their first victory. With one match remaining in the opening phase, the battle for second-phase qualification in the group remains wide open.
