9/8/2025 – Both teams started with intensity, chasing their first win of the tournament. The opening minutes saw attacks exchanged but no goals until Portugal broke through from the penalty spot with four minutes left in the first quarter. A medium-range shot quickly followed, giving them a 0–2 lead, before closing the quarter 0–3.

China ignited the home crowd early in the second quarter with two quick goals to narrow the gap to 2–3. A missed penalty from Portugal kept the game tight, and China soon levelled at 3–3. However, Portugal responded with an unstoppable scoring run. Jean Ayres (32) netted three in the half, helping Portugal to a commanding 3–9 advantage at the break.

Portugal carried their momentum into the third quarter, attacking with pace and precision while China struggled to convert their chances. The gap widened to 5–15 by the end of the period.

In the final quarter, China made substitutions in search of goals but still unable to close the gap. Portugal eased their tempo in the closing minutes yet secured a convincing 9–21 victory.
