Suriname kept their one-goal lead at 5-6 midway through the second quarter. Germany levelled with an unopposed medium shot, 6-6, but Suriname struck back to lead 6-7. The intensity rose, and Suriname pulled ahead 7-9 with two minutes to play.

After a quiet start to the third quarter, Suriname moved 7-11 ahead. Goals were scarce, and Germany fought back to close the gap to 10-12, then converted a penalty to trail 11-12 heading into the final period.

Suriname held a slim lead until Germany equalised at 14-14 with four minutes remaining. Suriname immediately reclaimed the advantage at 14-15, then sealed the 14-16 victory with a long shot just 17 seconds from the buzzer.
