NILAI, Malaysia – 15 August 2026 – Australia U21 finished their IKF U21 World Korfball Championship 2026 campaign on a positive note, defeating India U21 in the 15th-place match in Nilai, Malaysia.

Australia produced a confident attacking performance, with their movement and shooting around the korf creating consistent pressure on the Indian defence. Gerard McGinley was particularly influential, scoring six goals, as Australia maintained the upper hand throughout the contest.

India continued to compete strongly and found ways to respond on the scoreboard, but Australia’s greater attacking efficiency allowed them to stay in control through the final period. The Australian side eventually secured an 18–13 victory, closing their championship with an important win.

For India, the match provided another valuable international experience for a young team competing on the world stage. Despite the result, their participation in the championship represents an important step in the continued development of Indian korfball.
