Belgium maintain perfect start with convincing win over Catalonia

NILAI, Malaysia – 9 August 2026. Belgium continued their strong start to the IKF U21 World Korfball Championship 2026 with a convincing 30–10 victory over Catalonia in Pool B at the N9 Arena.

After opening the tournament with a 41–8 win against China, Belgium again demonstrated their attacking quality and defensive discipline, producing another high-scoring performance to move to two wins from two matches.

Catalonia, who had impressed in their opening match with a 24–6 victory over Japan, found Belgium a significantly tougher opponent. The Belgian defence limited Catalonia to 10 goals while their attack consistently created scoring opportunities, resulting in a 20-goal winning margin.

The result leaves Belgium and Catalonia at the top of Pool B, with both teams having collected three points from their opening two matches. Belgium, however, take first place on goal difference after scoring 71 goals across their two games.

With the pool still to be decided, Belgium have put themselves in an excellent position ahead of their final group match against Japan, while Catalonia will look to bounce back when they face China.
