9/8/2026 – Nilai, Malaysia – 9 August 2026 – Hosts Malaysia secured their first victory of the IKF U21 World Korfball Championship 2026 with an 18–13 win over Thailand, recovering strongly from their opening-day defeat against Chinese Taipei.

Playing in front of a lively home crowd in Nilai, Malaysia produced a more composed and controlled performance than in their tournament opener. The hosts gradually established their authority and, crucially, maintained their advantage as Thailand continued to challenge throughout the match.

The five-goal margin reflected Malaysia’s greater consistency in attack and their ability to convert pressure into points. Thailand showed determination and remained within reach for long periods, but Malaysia managed the important moments better and finished the game strongly.

For the Malaysian youngsters, the result represents an important step forward in Group C. After losing 26–13 to Chinese Taipei on the opening morning, the hosts responded with greater confidence and efficiency to put their first points on the board.

Thailand, meanwhile, can take encouragement from a competitive performance against the hosts. With the group phase still unfolding, both teams remain firmly in the race for their final positions.
