9 August 2026. England U21 continued their impressive start to the IKF U21 World Korfball Championship 2026, defeating Türkiye 17–10 in a disciplined Group D performance at the N9 Arena.

Having opened their campaign with a commanding 27–6 victory over Australia, England faced a very different challenge against a Türkiye side that had already shown its quality by edging Germany 15–13. The contest was consequently much tighter, but England gradually established control and never allowed their opponents to turn the match into a sustained comeback.

England’s defensive organisation was again a key feature. Türkiye were restricted to just 10 goals, while England’s attack produced enough consistency to build a seven-goal winning margin. The result also underlines England’s impressive defensive record after conceding only 16 goals across their opening two matches.

The victory leaves England at the summit of Group D with six points from two games, while Türkiye remain on three points after their opening win against Germany. With both sides still in contention for the next stage, the group will be decided by the remaining matches against Germany and Australia.

For England, the challenge now is to maintain the momentum of an excellent opening weekend. Türkiye, meanwhile, will look to respond in their final group match against Australia on Monday.
