The IKF All-Africa Korfball Championship North 2026 concluded in Nador, Morocco, with hosts Morocco claiming a convincing 3-0 series victory over Ivory Coast to secure the regional title.
Due to the late withdrawal of Cameroon, the tournament was contested as a best-of-three series between Morocco and Ivory Coast at Salle couverte Al Arouit from 30 September to 3 October 2026. Hosted by the Moroccan Association for Korfball, the event delivered three competitive matches and confirmed Morocco’s status as the leading force in northern African korfball.
Match results
Morocco finished the tournament with an aggregate score of 52–28, earning maximum points across all three games. Ivory Coast finished as runners-up.
Key individual performances included strong contributions from Moroccan players such as Dûnja Veldman (notably 6 goals in the opening match), Jalil El Boulahiati (5 goals in the final match), Brahim Moussaoui and Tarik Jeromoumi. For Ivory Coast, Mariam Tengueri was a consistent threat throughout the series.
Qualification for the IKF World Korfball Championship 2027
Victory in Nador carries major significance for Morocco. As champions of the IKF All-Africa Korfball Championship North 2026, Morocco have qualified for the IKF World Korfball Championship 2027, which will be held in the Netherlands from 15 to 24 October 2027.
Zimbabwe had already secured Africa’s other direct qualification place by winning the IKF All-Africa Korfball Championship South 2026 in Blantyre earlier in September. Ivory Coast, as runners-up in the North event, join the reserve list of teams for the 2027 World Championship alongside the runners-up from the South tournament.
The International Korfball Federation congratulates Morocco on a dominant campaign and thanks the Moroccan Association for Korfball, the local organisers in Nador, the volunteers, and the officials whose efforts made the successful staging of the championship possible.
