Match report

Czechia’s steadier shooting allowed them to stretch the gap to 10-6 with six minutes left in the second quarter. The match grew more intense, and crucial goals from Anna (6), Madeline (2), and Lea (1) helped Germany cut the deficit to a single goal at halftime, 11-10.

Four minutes into the third quarter, Czechia still couldn’t pull away, leading just 13-12. Lucas (19) then hit from mid-range to level the score at 14-14. Both sides kept finding the goal, but Germany edged ahead 15-16 with two minutes to play in the quarter, prompting a Czech time-out. Germany immediately added another goal to lead 15-17 heading into the final period.

Germany extended the gap to three with a long shot (15-18), but Czechia replied quickly to make it 16-18. With three minutes remaining, they closed it to 17-18, only for Germany to respond again (17-19). Czechia pulled one back (18-19) with two minutes left, and the crowd roared as the tension built. A missed Czech penalty seemed costly, but with nine seconds on the clock, they struck to tie it 19-19 and force a Golden Goal decider.

Czechia had the first attack but were stopped by Germany’s defence. Germany’s own attempt also failed, and after another exchange of missed chances, Nela (8) finally broke through with the decisive goal. Czechia sealed a dramatic 20-19 Golden Goal victory.
