Match report

NILAI, Malaysia – 12 August 2026 – Belgium U21 continued their impressive run at the IKF U21 World Korfball Championship 2026 with a commanding 34–10 victory over Portugal U21 , making a powerful statement at the start of the second group phase.

The Belgians set the tone from the opening exchanges, combining fast circulation with intelligent movement around the korf to create a steady stream of scoring opportunities. Their defensive pressure was equally effective, repeatedly forcing Portugal into difficult attacking situations and preventing their opponents from building sustained momentum.

Belgium’s attacking depth was once again a major strength. Rather than relying on individual brilliance, they maintained a high tempo and continued to find different routes to the korf as the match progressed. The result was a 24-goal winning margin and another prolific scoring performance from a side that has already demonstrated its offensive power earlier in the tournament.

Portugal, who reached the second phase after finishing second in Group C, showed determination throughout but struggled to cope with Belgium’s intensity at both ends of the court. Their 10 goals reflected some positive moments in attack, although they were unable to stay with the pace set by the Belgians.
