Match report

(…) NILAI, Malaysia – 9 August 2026 – Chinese Taipei continued their impressive start to the IKF U21 World Korfball Championship 2026 with a convincing 21–9 victory over Portugal on Sunday afternoon, maintaining their perfect record in Group C.

After opening the tournament with a win, Chinese Taipei produced another composed performance at the Selangor National Sports Complex, combining defensive discipline with efficient attacking play to take control of the contest.

Portugal struggled to find a consistent attacking rhythm against a well-organised Chinese Taipei defence. The Asian side gradually built its advantage and never allowed their opponents to turn the match into a contest, finishing with a 12-goal margin.

The result moves Chinese Taipei to two wins from two matches in Group C, while Portugal, who had also won their opening game, now face increased pressure in the race for the top positions.

With the group stage continuing, Chinese Taipei have underlined their ambitions in Malaysia and will look to carry this momentum into their final Group C fixture. Portugal, meanwhile, will need to respond quickly as the competition intensifies.

The IKF U21 World Korfball Championship 2026 brings together 16 national teams in Nilai from 8–16 August, with the tournament featuring the world’s leading young korfball talent.
