CK Vallparadis wins 2013 IKF Europa Shield

CK Vallparadis/Assessoria confirmed Catalonia’s ranking as the top IKF Europa Shield country by winning 19 – 10 against the German team from Castrop-Rauxel. The result means that Germany have finished runners up for the past three years and the country has yet to ever win the Shield event. The bronze medal game was an all Czech affair with Brno defeating Kolin 23 – 17. Fifth place was earned by Nottingham (ENG) who beat Obudai (HUN) 20 – 11 and seventh place was won by Cascais (POR) who beat AZS Wroclaw (POL) 20 – 7.

The most exciting game of the day was the first semi-final where the eventual winners from Catalonia just squeezed past the eventual bronze medallists – Brno – by a golden goal. Henning SCHMIDT (GER) just edged out Jan SEDY (CZE) by one goal for top male scorer with 17 and Antje MENZEL (GER) was the top female scorer with 16, Berta ALOMKA SESE (CAT) being second with 12.
