Year of the Youth promotion in Hungary

May 10, 2013/in Korfball News, Year of the Youth /by Celeste Split

Hungarian Korfball Association (HKA):
3 more schools on the Student Olympics!

The Hungarian Korfball Association’s goal in the Year of the Youth is to start korfball in a new region (Pest) in Budapest, and attract 3 more schools to play korfball and involve them into its’ official youth competiton system called Student Olympics. The targeted age group of the project is the secondary school students.

The Hungarian Korfball Association started the project on 4 March, 2013, while the planned finish is October. As a result, these schools will join the Student Olympics.

The new schools will be introduced to korfball, and the most enthusiastic ones will receive test equipment to start korfball as an extra activity at the PE lessons. The PE teachers will receive a basic korfball education course, and will be supported by regular follow-up activities (visits to PE lessons, small school tournaments).

The long-term goal of HKA is to increase korfball’s popularity in Budapest, and increase the numer of korfball players by using these schools as a continuous youth base for the existing korfball clubs.
