TWG 2017 Day 1: Report, videos and images
Korfball competition has started! The first game of The World Games 2017 between Chinese Taipei and Germany showed how spectacular, intense and exciting a korfball game can be. Three wonderful first quarters made the audience enjoy and see the great level of these two squads. The final 22-14 in favour of the Asian team doesn’t show the real close game they played.
The 2nd game was clearly decided from the very beginning. China was playing against the Dutch champion, and there were no surprises. A 33-10 win for The Netherlands, that will play a much difficult game on Day 2 against Belgium.
At 19:00, team Poland played versus Great Britain, and the extra motivation of the Polish made them play not as good as they wanted. Only in the 2nd half they started to play more calm and relax, and the goals arrived. On the other hand, Great Britain scored really well during the whole match, winning the game 11-23.
The last match between Belgium and Australia (26-8) was also an easy game for the European team, but it was nice to see the great progress that the Australian squad is doing at all levels. Let’s see what are they capable to do on Day 2 against team China.
Furthermore, we are very happy to have received the visit of the Sports Director of the International Olympic Committee to our korfball competition.
