Shinshiro Ebashi, Founder of Japan Korfball, dies at 97

The International Korfball Federation has learnt of the passing of Professor Shinshiro Ebashi. Professor Ebashi is the Founder of the Japan Korfball Association, at the time when he served on the leadership of the National Recreation Association of Japan. Professor Ebashi had learnt about korfball in Chinese Taipei, from the late Professor Eugene Chen, Founder of the Chinese Taipei Korfball Association.

Within Japan, Professor Ebashi is recognized as the First President of the National Institute of Sports Science in Kanoya, He died on April 8 at the age of 97.

The IKF remembers Professor Ebashi with the greatest respect and appreciate him for laying the foundation of korfball in Japan.
