IKF U23 Pan American Korfball Championship in Cali

7, 8 and 9 August 2015 the IKF U23 Pan American Korfball Championship (IKF U23 PAKC) plays in Cali, Colombia. The Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and Colombia play to become the first IKF U23 Pan American Korfball Champion.

The winner qualifies for the IKF U23 World Korfball Championship (IKF U23 WKC) in 2016.

Candidate team of the World Games: Dutch korfball team

The Dutch korfball team is one of ten nominated for the Team of the Year award 2013 by the International World Games Association (IWGA).

From January 6 to January 31, 2014, supporters and friends will be able to cast an online vote for The World Games 2013 top team. One vote per person per day is allowed.

We invite you to provide active support for the Dutch korfball team. The IKF is proud on this nomination for the World Games winners. Encourage people all over the world in all 60 korfball countries to support them with your votes. Use social media channels as well. The IWGA press officer has stated: “Everybody will be allowed to participate in the voting on the IWGA website. Each participant will have available one vote per day best team. The voting will be closed on January 31. Afterwards the IWGA will announce the winners and ranking on their website and launch a press release. The winners will be awarded a trophy.

The support for your athletes / team does not only honor their performance during The World Games 2013. The vote will also increase the popularity of your sport and will make it once more visible.”

Opening ceremony World Games 2013

The opening ceremony of the 9th World Games in Cali, Colombia took place in front of 35,000 spectators in the sold-out stadium on the evening of 25 July, another 40,000 watching the event on a large screen outside the stadium, and hundreds of thousands of Caleños celebrating the opening of the event in the streets. It’s the 1st time this multi-sport event is held on the South American continent.

The 4,500 athletes and officials coming from 101 countries from all over the world will participate in competitions in 31 sports till August 4th.

The korfball event will start July 31st and the finals will be played August 4th

The World Games korfball venue nearby ready

The Mundialista Coliseum in Cali, venue for the korfball tournament at The World Games is nearby ready. The schedule foresees completion of the venue by the end of this week.

Construction at the Mundialista Coliseum in Cali, venue for the korfball tournament at The World Games is progressing rapidly now with construction of the roof almost completed. The schedule foresees completion of the venue by the end of June.

Great Britain Squad announced for World Games 2013

England Korfball’s senior Head Coach, Dave Buckland has selected on behalf the British Korfball Association (BKA) a squad of 14 players that will travel to Cali, Colombia in the summer of 2013 to compete in the ninth edition of the World Games.

The Great Britain Korfball squad for the 2013 World Games features a number of experienced Internationals including Captain Tony Woodvine (Trojans KC) as well as first time call-ups for Nottingham’s Jess Beale and Kingfisher’s John Denton.

GB Squad list in full:

Females: Aimee Evans (Bec), Carla Bennett (Norwich Knights), Jess Beale, Hannah Lorrimer (Nottingham), Steph Allen, Neala Brennan and Amy Turner (Trojans).

Males: Andrew Hall, Davesh Patel (Bec), John Denton (Kingfisher), Charlie Vogwill (Norwich Knights), Joe Bedford (Nottingham), David Brooks and Tony Woodvine (Trojans).
