TOP/Solar Compleet (NED): IKF Europa Cup 2018 Champion!

The IKF Europa Cup 2018 has a champion: the Dutch TOP/Solar Compleet, after beating the Belgian AKC/Luma in today’s final in Platja d’Aro (Costa Brava – Girona, Catalonia).

A great tournament finished with the German SG Pegasus winning the Bronze medal for the first time. Congratulations!

Hungary & Serbia classify for the IKF EKC 2018 Final Round

Day 2 at the 1st round of the IKF European Korfball Championship 2018 in Budapest (HUN) ended with the following results:

Hungary won the final of this IKF EKC 2018 First Round by beating Serbia 24-11. Both teams are qualified for the EKC Final Round next year in The Netherlands (13-21 October 2018). First reserve squad for the Final Round is Ireland, which ended third in this event.

During Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October 2017, eight national teams competed to achieve a place for the EKC 2018 final round (Event’s info). Only the numbers 1 and 2 in this first round will qualify for the IKF EKC in 2018 in The Netherlands (13-21 October 2018).

The participant teams were ARMENIA, GREECE, HUNGARY, IRELAND, SERBIA, SWEDEN, SWITZERLAND and UKRAINE. These last two countries had their first international appearance.

All games could be followed live on IKF’s data website: www.worldkorfball.org. Live results, matches schedule, game statistics, play-by-play, scorers and ranking pools were available live from Gabányi László Sportshall.

The IKF Europa Shield is well known because of its close games and surprises, and today’s games were the perfect demonstration of all this. Looking at the results, everybody can see why players and spectators love so much this tournament. Everybody can beat its rival!

IKF Europa Shield 2017: Day 1 Report

The 2017 Europa Shield edition in on! Four games where played today in Multiusos de Odivelas (POR). As expected, the first close games took place, leaded by a golden goal in favour of the English Bec KC against the German Schweriner KC. This game was followed by the SG Pegasus (GER) – KCC SOKOL (CZE), that also ended with a really close 23-21.

The other two games were clearly leaded by KC Barcelona and CRC Quinta dos Lombos. A great first day of tournament before tomorrow’s big day with 8 games. Here you can see all Day 1 results (Friday, 27 January 2017):

IKF ECUP 2017 Day 3: TOP/Quoratio is the new champion!

And the 51th IKF EUROPA CUP 2017 goes to… TOP/Quoratio (NED), after beating Boeckenberg KC from Belgium in a great final (37-27). Crowed sports hall, nice plays and lots and great goals. A perfect ending to a great day with real close and exciting games. Congratulations to all volunteers, organizers, sponsors, jurys, referees and players. This has been a great tournament and organization!

IKF ECUP 2017 Day 2: Final games known

Some real exciting games took place during this IKF ECUP 2017 Day 2 (Friday, 13 January 2017). The 1st game between Szentendre SZ HE (HUN) and the Catalan CK Vallparadís was an example, and was only decided in the last minutes (13-14). More terrific was the game NC Benfica (POR) – Trojans KC (ENG), won by a decisive goal (9-10) scored by Kathryn Goodridge with only 7 seconds left.

The other games determined all the final games that will be played tomorrow, with the big final at 17:00 (GMT+1) between TOP/Quoratio (NED) and Boeckenberg KC (BEL), just after the Bronze medal game at 15:00 (GMT+1): CK Vallparadís (CAT) – Trojans KC (ENG).
