Kit McConnell welcomes attendees to the World Korfball Congress

At the World Korfball Congress 2023 which was held Taipei City during the World Korfball Championships, 25 – 26 October 2023, Gabi Kool, Chair of Executive Committee and Executive Vice President for the International Korfball Federation (IKF) read out a letter to attendees received from Kit McConnell, the Sports Director of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).  

Kit said: “The vision outlined in the International Korfball Federations’ “Strategy 2032” is inspiring. Congratulations to the International Korfball Federation for your unwavering dedication to promoting gender equality and fostering inclusivity through sport. This is a shared commitment that resonated with us all. 

Korfball, at its core, thrives on cooperation, both on and off the pitch. The IOC stands inspired by your commitment to fostering cooperation and your dedication to reaching younger generations. 

Together, let’s continue to build a brighter and equal future 

The IKF is committed to working better together with our members and partners, and we are excited about the future opportunities for the sport of korfball. IKF World Korfball Congress Program

The IKF World Korfball Congress will take place from 25 to 26 October 2023 in Taipei City, Chinese Taipei. The theme of the congress is ‘Rising in a Changing Society’.

IKF World Korfball Congress and IKF General Meeting 2021

The IKF World Korfball Congress and IKF General Meeting 2021 will be be organised from 28-30 October in Antwerp (Belgium), during the IKF European Korfball Championship A-Division. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the related travel restrictions, the Congress and AGM will be organised in a hybrid format. Online attendance options will be made available for those unable to travel to Antwerp. All invitees are required to register upfront.

This year’s Congress is named ‘Reinventing korfball; unite for the future’. There will be particular emphasis on the development of korfball along three dimensions:

– IKF & National Federations; a joint path towards the future;

– Learning Management Platform; needs & experiences;

– Korfball4; moving closer to the Olympics.

The general program is as follows:

– Thursday 28 October 13:00 – 17:00 hrs CET: IKF World Korfball Congress

– Friday 29 October      09:00 – 13:00 hrs CET: IKF World Korfball Congress

– Saturday 30 October  09:00 – 12:00 hrs CET: IKF General Meeting

Both the Congress and the General Meeting will take place in Boeckenberg Sport and Business, Grensstraat 9, 2100 Antwerp.

 

IKF Korfball World Congress 2019

The next IKF Korfball World Congress will take place on August 7 and August 8 in the Garden Court Marine Parade Hotel, Durban, South Africa, during the IKF World Korfball Championship 2019.

This year’s edition of the congress aims to promote the sharing of experiences and ideas among members focusing on two main themes: Global Korfball Development and Strengthening Our National Organisations.

The registration for the IKF Korfball World Congress is still open until July, 8th 2019 and it must be done by email to office@ikf.org
